Novels & Books
I often hear people say "one day I want to write a book, when I get time," and, even though they don't always say anything else, I can tell they hope it'll be a huge success: they'll quit work, live in wealth, that kind of thing. Sometimes, it's possible to tell that this same person hopes they will never again have to write another book and go through the torture of being rejected, of worrying, of the late nights and early mornings...of all of it.
I don't always blame them. Rarely, but sometimes, I do think the same.
Only there's a problem (for the most part)...
If you only want to write one book, then the chances are that you're not going to have much fun writing. Before I finally decided to self-publish The Number 3 Mystery Book, I wrote 6 or 7. Why? That's easy enough to answer: I love the creative process.
